Channel 4 To Screen Tony Blair’s Last TV Interview As Prime Minister
Channel 4 today announced that it will screen Tony Blair’s last television interview as Prime Minister on Monday 2 July at 8pm. The interview forms part of an extensive documentary covering the final months of Blair’s premiership, The Last Days of Tony Blair.Journalist Will Hutton was invited to film Tony Blair in February. The documentary covers these final months as Hutton follows Blair travelling the length and breadth of Britain, touring internationally and working at both Number 10 and in his constituency of Sedgefield.
Along the way, Hutton conducts a range of incisive interviews with Blair, discussing his record and probing what really makes the man tick. In the last week, as Blair attempts to shape his legacy, Hutton assesses his record as Prime Minister. The final broadcast interview was filmed on Tuesday.
Dorothy Byrne said: “The film is shot over five months – it’s the longest time cameras have been invited in to follow a serving Prime Minister. For many Blair is an enigma but Will Hutton reviews his legacy and looks for the real Tony Blair. Here we find out how Blair answers his critics and justifies the decisions he’s made.”
