The Bill Takes It Up A Beat

5th July 2007 Print
The cops of Sun Hill are tested to their limits in a two-part, highly-charged special culminating in a dramatic helicopter chase across the London skyline, ITV1, Wednesday 18th (Death of Innocence) and Thursday 19th July (Salvation) 8 - 9pm.

P.C. Lewis Hardy (Aml Ameen) finds his faith tested when cousin Dominic (Richie Campbell) plays a dangerous game with street gang The Skens. Hardy is torn between his role as a police officer and family loyalty, when he is lured into the murky depths of a turf war between rival gangs, in an attempt to protect his cousin.

“The Bill really has moved on a long way in recent months, in terms of style and storyline,” commented executive producer Johnathan Young, “and we’ve employed different production techniques with these episodes, to heighten the dramatic effect. We’re not afraid of tackling real-life crime and issues, and we’ve deliberately explored the storyline as far as we can, to take things further than we could normally, and to give the audience a real treat.

“The first episode opens with the shooting of P.C. Roger Valentine (John Bowler), by his partner Hardy, and then ‘rewinds’ to reflect retrospectively on how events arrive to this point. By the conclusion of the two-parter, D.C.I. Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) has taken to the sky in an aerial chase of the Sken gang – it’s edge-of-the-seat stuff!”

The episodes end with a dramatic shoot-out at a penthouse apartment – will P.C. Hardy manage to find his salvation? Death of Innocence and Salvation – The Bill: arresting viewing.
