The X Factor Returns For Fourth Series

7th August 2007 Print
The X Factor - the UK’s most popular entertainment show - returns to ITV screens for an even bigger and better fourth series this Autumn. The show's three infamous judges, Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, return with a new addition to the panel in the form of Dannii Minogue, with Brian Friedman as creative director.

The judges will put their names and reputations on the line as they scour the country to find the nation's next singing sensation.

Dermot O’Leary takes the reins as the show’s brand new host, offering the contestants support, encouragement and at times, a shoulder to cry on, as well as keeping control over the always opinionated judging panel.

The winner of last year’s series, Leona Lewis, scored a No1 with her single A Moment Like This, and runner-up Raymond Quinn went to the top of the charts with his debut album.

All four judges will hope that one of their acts follows Leona to glory and the coveted No1 spot.

The fourth series of The X Factor will also feature a new category, opening up the competition to performers aged 14 and over. Contestants will be split into Boys (14-24s), Girls (14-24s), 25 and Overs, and Groups.

As well as their judging duties, Simon, Sharon, Louis and Dannii act as mentors, guiding their selected finalists towards the climax of the competition and a sought after £1m recording contract.

The Xtra Factor returns to ITV2 with the inimitable Fearne Cotton at the helm.
