Moira Stuart to leave BBC News

Moira Stuart is to leave the staff of BBC News to work on a wider range of projects. Moira was most recently a regular newsreader on BBC One's The Andrew Marr Show, the Breakfast News, and her 34 year career at BBC News has included stints presenting all of the corporation's television news programmes.

Helen Boaden, Director of BBC News, said: "Throughout her 30 plus years at the BBC, Moira has achieved a great deal. She has always been a model professional as well as being much loved and admired by both the public and her BBC colleagues. Everyone in BBC News wishes her all the best for the future."

From the late Nineties, Moira was the regular face at the news desk on Sunday mornings reading the news just before David Frost – and more recently Andrew Marr – grilling the great and the good, as well as reading the news on BBC One's breakfast programme.
She has previously presented the 5.40, Six, Nine and News After Noon news bulletins.

Moira started her BBC career as a production assistant, in Radio's Talks and Documentaries department before moving on to become a BBC Radio 4 announcer and newsreader and a programme presenter on BBC Radio 2.

Moira also presented various programmes on radio and television including Best Of Jazz, The Quincy Jones Story, Open Forum and The Holiday Programme.

She has won numerous awards including the TV and Radio Industries Club Best Newscaster awards, and the Women Of Achievement Television Personality award.
