The search is on for the ultimate Spice Girls tribute band

VH1 launches a new UK production this autumn; a series in search of a girl group with the talent to fill the sizeable pop platforms vacated by the original Spice Girl line-up.

To celebrate the Spice Girls’ hotly anticipated reunion tour, VH1 is in search of the ultimate group of wannabes – a brand new tribute band. Open auditions will be held in the girls’ home towns to find five wannabes with the star quality to recapture the glory days of Girl Power.

Jeremy Davies, Executive Producer says, "The Spice Girls made a huge impact in this country and around the world both musically and culturally. They pioneered 90's Girl Power pop and to celebrate the fab five's return we're giving a new bunch of wannabe's the chance to follow in their high-heeled footsteps. We're really looking forward to seeing the girls who grew up learning all the Spice Girls songs and iconic dance moves auditioning for our band. And with the team behind the Spice Girls success on hand for advice and support we're sure our girls will do Posh, Sporty, Ginger, Scary and Baby proud! I hope the VH1 audience enjoys the journey”.

A panel of expert judges and celebrity Spice Girl specialists will select the top auditionees. Music industry impresario, Roseann McBride will head up a no-nonsense judging panel including; self-confessed Posh obsessive, Chanelle Hayes, David Laudat the vocal expert who fine tuned the girls for global success and Kenny Ho, the celebrity stylist responsible for the band’s iconic image.

This entertaining 6-part VH1 production will celebrate the Spice Girls’ unique story, bringing you highlights of the band’s rise to fame along with the development of this newly formed tribute band. VH1 will follow the formation of the group from the audition process, including the inevitable comical characters hoping to spice up their lives, through the gruelling rehearsals and onto the Wannabes’ nerve-wracking (and hopefully show-stopping!) live performance at a top London venue.

Auditions are taking place in London, Watford, Leeds and Liverpool from October 19 and are held in association with Heart FM Real Radio Yorkshire and Century 105.4FM.
