15th February 2007 Print
Lanes Restaurant and Bar James Robertson and Hamish Smith, owners of Lanes Restaurant & Bar, London E1, are delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Cooper as their new head chef, and the restaurant is now serving his new menu. This is Liam’s first head chef role. He was previously Sous Chef at Lanes, and prior to that, he worked as Senior Pastry Chef at Gordon Ramsay, Royal Hospital Road and Pétrus.

In keeping with what Lanes is known for, Liam’s new menu continues to combine British and Modern European influences and features black pudding and poached rainbow trout with mustard and nettle sauce; roasted partridge with morel and lardon risotto; and herb-crusted fillet of turbot with ‘Anna’ potatoes and Madeira sauce. Lanes' signature dishes, including the Aberdeen Angus Lanes burger; and battered fillet of cod with Lanes tartare sauce and chips, remain on the menu.

The restaurant's wine list contains a combination of European and new world varieties, including St Clair’s Doctor’s Creek Reserve Pinot Noir and Domaine de Coyeaux, Beaumes De Venise, Cotes Du Rhone Villages.

The dining room at Lanes is bright and airy and decorated with regularly changing displays of art, currently an exhibition by James Holdsworth, creating an atmosphere which is as suited to business lunches as a meal with friends or colleagues. The comfortable bar area offers a choice of sofas and stools and, in addition to the full drinks list, also serves a bar snack menu.

Lanes also offers a ‘Board Room’, an elegant private dining space that can also be booked for events, meetings and private dinners. Additionally, the whole venue is a popular location for private parties.

The restaurant is open for lunch Monday to Friday (12noon to 3pm) and for dinner Monday to Saturday (5.30pm – 10pm). The bar is open Monday to Saturday 12noon – 11pm.
