Exceptional New Gastro Pub Opens In West London

The Queens Arms is independently owned and managed, and is the brainchild of Proprietors Jon Bird and Tim Brown. These two successful young entrepreneurs are also behind the highly acclaimed Freemasons pub in Wandsworth, which has enjoyed sustained success since opening in December 2003.
Situated directly behind the renowned Queens Tennis Club, the Queens Arms occupies a prime corner site that was previously home to a pub of the same name. However, the venue has undergone extensive and major refurbishment over the course of several months to convert it from a traditional local boozer to a stylish public bar and gastro pub, with magnificent results.
The new establishment is assembled over two levels, with a striking black walnut bar occupying centre stage on the ground floor. Boasting a wide selection of draught and bottled beers, spirits and an adventurous cocktail list, the atmosphere is predominantly relaxed and informal. The bar area also offers an extensive wine list and innovative bar menu, and features an array of bar stools and comfortable sofas, creating a sophisticated and chic yet informal space. Additionally, Sky television is available on two top of the range wall mounted plasma screens for major sporting fixtures.
A dramatic staircase with a modern glass balustrade ascends from the ground floor, flanking the side of the building and leading to an attractive and classy balconette area on the first floor. This level accommodates a more formal dining room with an open kitchen, and a cluster of sofas and comfortable chairs are available for drinking in a smoke free environment.
The upper floor is flooded with natural light, thanks to an ingenious design feature – a retractable roof providing sunshine and an authentic Al Fresco experience in summer, and ample natural ventilation throughout the year. The kitchen is headed up by prominent chef Paul Foster; formerly engaged at both the Ivy and J. Sheekeys. As Head Chef, Paul is responsible for both the bar and dining room menus, which are reasonably priced and change at regular intervals. All food is freshly sourced with daily deliveries and an emphasis upon high quality, seasonal produce across all dishes.
Those who are passionate about wine will not be disappointed by the establishment’s wine list – there are over 70 wines to choose from, including a selection of unusual new world varieties alongside more classic French and Italian labels.
With a notable absence of quality eateries in the West London area, the Queens Arms is emerging as something of a diamond in the rough – a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. The overwhelming offering is that of a traditional gastro pub – there is a spacious bar area and the food served is of a superb quality, while reflecting excellent value for money.
With contemporary glass paintings by notorious artist Zebedee Helm throughout, the venue has multiple elements of visual opulence and the overall impression is one of timeless style. Combined with traditional furniture, excellent service and an unpretentious attitude, the Queens Arms signifies a new approach to the gastro pub market, raising standards and creating something rare and diverse.
Tim Brown and Jon Bird, Proprietors, Commented: “We’re really excited about this new venture, which we’ve built upon the ethic of providing creative, first class food and wine at reasonable prices without compromising on the quality aspect. We hope to cater to the full range of customers from the local vicinities across West London, including businesses, social drinkers, sports fans and of course individuals interested in fine dining.”
The Queens Arms is running an opening promotion, offering all customers a two course lunch for just £10 throughout the month of April.
