Renowned Brighton Restaurant Offered For Sale

For almost two decades, Angelo, who was born and raised near Lake Como, has established Casalingo as one of the finest Italian restaurants in Sussex. He is now looking forward to a well-earned retirement, hence the sale of the restaurant.
Preston Street is famous as Brighton’s ‘street of restaurants’ and runs adjacent to the seafront of this popular south east coastal resort. Brighton has been named as the ‘Best English City to Dine in Outside London’ in Remy Martin's Restaurant Awards 2007.
Casalingo at 29 Preston Street is located in the heart of Brighton, close to Regency Square and only 150 yards from the sea and the West Pier, the proposed site for the new ‘i360’ tower. The Brighton Centre, which hosts shows and many national and international conferences each year, is within walking distance.
Trading as an authentic Italian Restaurant, Casalingo has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and offers a quality a la carte menu with seasonal specials and an impressive wine list. The word Casalingo means ‘home cooked’ and each meal is lovingly prepared to order, to the highest standards, using the very best fresh ingredients.
The restaurant occupies the ground and lower ground floor of a three-storey, period terraced property. The 54-covers are located within an arch-shaped dining area on the ground floor. The kitchen and customer facilities are located on the lower ground floor. The restaurant was refurbished in January 2007 using clean, fresh, modern, neutral colours.
Michele Parker of Christie & Co’s Maidstone office, who is handling the sale, comments: “The sale of Casalingo marks the end of an era for the Martinoli family. However, Preston Street is probably Brighton’s most established restaurant location. The sale of the restaurant is a going concern and offers a great opportunity for new owners to continue with this thriving business in a prime location close to Brighton seafront.”
Casalingo is offered for sale on a leasehold basis at an asking price of £185,000 for a new 20-year lease, with an annual rent of £27,500.
