Canteen Opens At The Royal Festival Hall

17th April 2007 Print
Canteen Canteen, the award winning high-street restaurant serving modern British food, will be opening their new restaurant at the newly refurbished Royal Festival Hall in June 2007. Canteen faces directly onto the re-landscaped Southbank Centre Square acting as a focal point for the regenerated area.

The informal 260 cover restaurant will offer booth seating, communal tables, covered and heated outdoor seating and a bar celebrating the best of British beers. Like the original Spitalfields site, Canteen at Southbank Centre will serve high quality British cuisine at reasonable prices and will continue to offer customers ultimate flexibility with an all-day menu serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and bar snacks.

The Royal Festival Hall, one of the world's leading concert venues and one of London's most iconic buildings, stands at the heart of the Southbank Centre complex. Opened in 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain it has undergone a 90 million pound refurbishment and will reopened in June 2007.

"Both the Royal Festival Hall and The festival Of Britain were direct influences for Canteen - democratic, welcoming, elegant and considered. To be part of one of London's most iconic buildings is very exciting for us" commented Canteen founders, Cass Titcombe, Dominic Lake and Patrick Clayton-Malone.
