New Town restaurant gets brand new look

Owned and run by husband and wife team George and Michelle Kelso, Haldanes offers guests the opportunity to dine in elegant private rooms, as well as the quirky basement restaurant. In the traditional stone dining room, sumptuous carpeting and crisp white linen table cloths are complimented by intimate lighting. A contemporary lounge has been relocated downstairs to provide an intimate and chic waiting or watering area for evening dinner guests, complete with stylish accessories, and sumptuous soft furniture.
The elegant upstairs area, created with the move to the New Town in early 2006, has also received a makeover. Vettriano’s hang on freshly painted walls with classic furniture and subtle lighting offering a contemporary space to relax and enjoy a light lunch. A traditional oak bar sits at the end of the 14 cover bistro with an envious selection of fine wine, malts, cocktails and liqueurs.
Using the freshest local produce, Proprietor Chef George Kelso and his team prepare dishes representative of the finest Scottish cuisine with the menu often featuring the delights of west coast seafood, Scottish Beef, Lamb and salmon. To celebrate the launch of the new look upstairs, a unique lunch menu offering dishes for only £6 will be available in the bistro area.
Haldanes Restaurant is located at 13b Dundas Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, EH3 6QG.
