A new chapter for Brunello Restaurant
This Spring sees the launch of a new chapter at Brunello Restaurant in the five star Baglioni Hotel, London. From the 10th of March 2008, Brunello introduces newly appointed Head Chef Andrea Vercelli, alongside a stunning new Back to Basics menu that features a simplified range of comforting Italian classics. As a consequence to this new offering, Brunello will have a much softer, more brasserie like look and feel to the restaurant that ties in perfectly.
Andrea Vercelli’s new menu concentrates on the simplicity of Italian cooking and the outstanding quality of the ingredients used. The new look Brunello is much more affordable and offers a relaxed, laid back dining experience but still with the trappings of a restaurant located in a five star hotel. Timothy Hocks has been brought in to manage the restaurant and has, with the help of sommelier Matteo Lussana added a wider range of well-priced wines fitting perfectly alongside this brand new offering.
Andrea spent the last two years working in the kitchen of Marco Pierre Whites’s hugely successful Luciano Restaurant. Previously Andrea has worked at some of London's best-loved Italian restaurants including Caffe Caldesi, Rosmarino and Harry’s Bar to name a few.
Andrea’s menu at Brunello features a range of seasonal favourites which include to start Scallop Gratin, Mixed fried prawns and squid, Risotto Milanese with veal osso bucco, Tagliatelle with bacon and ceps and Linguine with crab, spring onion and sweet chilli.
For main course choose from Roast turbot with spinach, pine nuts and bacon, Pan fried duck with glazed apricots and puntarelle or Veal cutlet Milanese with rosemary potato. For dessert Pear and chocolate cake, Panna cotta with caramel and strawberry zabaglione follow along perfectly.
Dominating the centre of the impressive dining room is the Brunello bar with its stunning gold studded black slate bar and comfortable regency style bar stools. The bar has become a real destination for excellent and innovative cocktails as well as a regular stop off for the international jet set.
Gil Dez’s decadently opulent interior has stood the test of time and the breathtaking multipurpose room is still a destination, cleverly combining the ultimate in five star luxury with the more practical needs of a busy hotel bar and restaurant.
The look and feel of the restaurant has been suitably tailored to fit alongside its food offering and subsequently has a much more laid back feel. Gone is the formal linen napery and decorative plates giving this exceptional space a more informal feel.
The buzz from the central bar naturally spreads to the restaurant and lounge creating the perfect setting to relax, indulging in anything from a hearty breakfast, a sumptuous lunch, full afternoon tea, a favourite cocktail or the ultimate dinner.
The Brunello Restaurant is located within London’s Baglioni Hotel, 60 Hyde Park Gate, SW7 5BB.
