A new menu for London’s Grand Union Bar Grill

3rd November 2008 Print
The Grand Union Bar-Grill will launch its new menu this weekend across their 4 London sites (Camden, Twickenham, Islington, Highgate). The menu is an extension of the Gourmet Burger and Cocktail concept, with 14 new burgers and salads, and over double the cocktails and shots.

The Food

New choices include The Fired Earth Burger ‘The World’s Hottest Burger’, an Oriental Pork Burger and a Fish Burger as well as two new vegetarian options. Breadless burgers and salads are now available for the more carb-conscious alongside 4 new side dishes.

Beef and lamb is 100% British and sourced locally. 7oz patties are made on site using the chef’s own blends of herbs, spices and seasonings, giving a rich and distinctive flavour. Buns are baked locally and exclusively for The Grand Union, filled with fresh lettuce, beef tomato, relish and mayo.

The Drink

The cocktail offer has been significantly increased, to become more recognized as a bar specialising in cocktails. Now with Classic, Contemporary, Luxury and Non-alcoholic sections all bases are covered from the Martini to The Monarch of The Glen.

Old favourites and best sellers have remained in the Amaretto Sour and our famous Mojito served in an elegant Sling Glass. The stars of the show however are found in the Contemporary and Luxury Sections, put together in association with Moet Hennessey. The Fig and Bison (Zubrowka Vodka, Fig, Vanilla and Fresh Apple) is the ideal sweet treat, while the Kiwi Caprioska (Kiwifruit 42 Below Vodka, fresh strawberries and lime) deftly balances the sweet, sour and refreshing. The Fresh Prince, using a fresh Hibiscus Flower gives an inventive touch, and the aptly named Sex and the City is sure to knock the stockings off any Cosmo Connoisseur.

The Future

Owners Adam Marshall and Adam Saword will take a further extension of their Burger and Cocktail concept to sites outside London in 2009. A 5th site, in Stoke Hammond, 1 ½ hours north of London has been confirmed for Easter. A more relaxed, family friendly country style pub will serve a brasserie style menu to families spending the day in the large outdoor area. Breakfast and an extended lunch/dinner menu will go alongside the famous burgers in a site expected to be food led.
