Barford pub voted number one eatery The Granville @ Barford has been voted the number one eatery by The Independent newspaper in their “50 Best Cheap Eats” feature. The feature included eateries from across the UK that served up the best breakfast, lunch and dinner on a budget.

Not only did The Granville @ Barford receive the highly coveted number 1 position, but it was the only pub in Warwickshire to be included. The majority of pubs featured were based in London, Oxfordshire, Kent, Yorkshire and Edinburgh.

The experienced panel who voted for the best 50 cheap eats included Matthew Linden who runs www.thrifty-living.org.uk, Cyrus Shahrad, editor of Time Out Cheap Eats in London, Elizabeth Carter, Editor of The Good Food Guide, Matthew Drennan, Editor of Delicious magazine and Katrina Larkin, co founder of The Big Chill.

Matthew Linden visited The Granville @ Barford and rated the food as “Delicious with dishes such as Salmon, Crayfish and Haddock Pie and ham-hock terrine with poached egg. It also does very good beer, a good value £14.50 two-course Sunday lunch and reasonable “larger starter” size meals served at lunchtimes and until 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays”.

The award-winning dining pub has much to be proud of since the proprietor Val Kersey bought the pub in May 2007. Within 6 months of owning and transforming the pub, Val had scooped two prestigious awards in the 2007 Coventry & Warwickshire Food & Drink Awards for ‘Best Restaurant’ and ‘Champion of Local Produce’. In 2008, The Granville @ Barford picked up both a commendation in the Best Dining Pub/Inn category in the Coventry & Warwickshire Food & Drink Awards and won "Most Distinctive Local Menu" in the Warwickshire Life Food & Drink Awards.

Val Kersey, Proprietor, stated “We’re delighted to have been voted number 1 by The Independent in their “50 Best Cheap Eats”. It’s a fantastic honour and achievement for The Granville and is testament to our commitment in serving freshly home-cooked dishes of excellent quality with the emphasis on great service and value for money”.
