Café Fish opens its doors in Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s latest restaurant, Café Fish, is set to open its doors today. Located on The Shore, Edinburgh’s well-known foodie quarter, Café Fish will be serving only the very best of local and Scottish produce in a relaxed atmosphere and at an excellent price.

With a two-course dinner costing only £19 and three-courses priced at £23, Café Fish’s menu will change daily and offer only the freshest selection of quality fish and seafood, as well as a meat or game and vegetarian options. All ingredients are being sourced from small, independent producers, making excellent use of Scotland’s rich natural larder.

An informal restaurant and wine bar, Café Fish will be ideal for social and business dining, offering a full lunch and dinner menu, as well as a traditional oyster bar style service - perfect for those looking for a quick bite or to share a delicious seafood platter at the bar with friends. An extensive wine and champagne list can be enjoyed with food or simply by the glass, with casual drinkers also welcome. Over 60% of wines are priced at under £20 per bottle.

Menu’s will include delights such as seared Harris scallops with cauliflower cream, devilled mackerel with spiced turmeric potatoes and Bracadale crab risotto, poached egg hollandaise.

With 56 covers, Café Fish has been completely refurbished by local craftsman, and uses sleek, industrial, modern design to complement and contrast with the traditional features of the Victorian building. Lovingly restored period features sit comfortably alongside new focal points including a curved concrete bar with distressed aluminium top and reconditioned 1960s mahogany revolving door.

Café Fish will have an intimate and friendly feel, reinforced by the open kitchen to allow diners to watch their meal being prepared by the restaurant’s experienced chef, Virginae Dumon. Virginae spent her formative years working in various restaurants in Nice and throughout the Cote D’Azur, before moving to London to work under celebrated chef, Marco Pierre White.
