Aldo Zilli launches menu in aid of Abruzzo earthquake

14th May 2009 Print
Acclaimed Italian Chef Aldo Zilli was shocked to the core by last month’s tragic earthquake in his native region, Abruzzo and has announced that he is to launch a menu at his flagship restaurant Signor Zilli, where a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Abruzzo Earthquake Fund.

The menu celebrates the cuisine of Abruzzo and a novel twist is that diners can pay exactly what they like for the food served to them.

At a time when the world needs to be reminded about this beautiful region in Italy, Aldo has created a delicious three course menu comprising the delicious ingredients found there.

Starters include Crostini Abruzzesi, Timballo Teramano (a Pancake Tian with Baby Pork Meatballs, Tomato and Parmesan Gratin), and Zuppa Di Lenticchie Aquilana (Mixed Pulse Soup).

Mains from the region include Ravioli di Coniglio della Nonna (Rabbit Ravioli), Agnello Cacio e Uova (Rosemary Garlic Wine and Lamb Stew) and Capellini Scamora Pescarese (Angel Hair Pasta with Smoked Abruzzo Mozarella and Roasted Peppers).

Round off the perfect Abruzzi feast with Chocolate Covered Almond Cake, White Chocolate Ice Cream marinated with Limoncello and served with Watermelon.

Aldo is deeply committed to the earthquake fund and is already planning several trips out there to help people who have lost loved ones and been deprived of basic amenities. This menu is a fun and interesting ways of getting diners to donate to the charity and he hopes that leaving the menu with no price on it will actually encourage diners to give generously to the charity.

Head down to Signor Zilli and pay what you like for your meal in aid of the Abruzzo earthquake fund. Diners are advised to book early to avoid disappointment and to quote ‘Abruzzo menu’ when reserving a table.

Signor Zilli is located at 40-41 Dean Street, London, W1 - zillialdo.com.
