Strawberry Hill Newfound N.V., the developer and operator of up-market holiday resorts that listed on AIM in September, has acquired the four star Strawberry Hill Resort, Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada, adjacent to the company’s premier Humber Valley Resort.

Originally developed by the papermaking industrialist Sir Eric Bowater as a corporate retreat for visiting dignitaries, Strawberry Hill Resort’s guests have included Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Prince Edward, Prince Philip and Her Majesty, the Queen of England.

Currently comprising an appealing manor house and eight luxurious modern chalets, the resort is renowned for its fine restaurant which offers an elegant complement to the wide range of outdoor activities available year round. After a full day of skiing, snowmobiling and tobogganing in the winter or world class Atlantic salmon fishing, golf, hiking and biking in the summer, visitors can enjoy a superb meal, often using fresh produce from the area, in the elegant ambiance enjoyed by the Queen herself.

Strawberry Hill Resort is fully equipped with conference facilities and it is envisioned that its close proximity to the international award winning Humber Valley Resort will enhance the offerings of both developments.

Brian Dobbin, Newfound’s Chief Executive, said: “We are extremely pleased that Strawberry Hill has become part of the Humber Valley Resort offering. Strawberry Hill is any fly-fisherman’s dream holiday location. We will be enhancing the facilities currently on offer and Strawberry Hill will become a significant contribution to the spectrum of facilities available at Humber Valley Resort.”
