Barcelona most expensive place to purchase property in Spain

Barcelona has reclaimed its position as the most expensive place to buy property in Spain with an average price of €608,000, a massive 148% above the national average, according to data from Spanish property portal Kyero.com.

The national average property price has dropped from €249,000 in December 06 to €245,000 in January 07, a 1.6% decline.

The province of Cuenca in central Spain remains the cheapest place in which to buy with properties averaging at €39,000, 84% below national average.

Looking at the Canary Islands, Gran Caneria has seen a 7% drop since Dec 06 from €220,000 to €205,000 compared to Lanzarote which has seen nearly a 10% rise from €285,000 in Dec 06 to €312,000 in Jan 07.

The most popular province in which to buy remains Malaga where property prices average at €315,000.

The most sought after property type remains a studio or 3 bedroom apartment with no swimming pool priced between €50,000 and €150,000.
