Property buyers still heading for Mallorca
Steady demand continues for property in Mallorca, Spain’s top upmarket destination, despite recent media speculation about the market. The island attracts many diverse and affluent buyers from throughout Europe, and has not suffered from the same problems of oversupply and development saturation. In fact figures from the Spanish government show that prices increased by 12% over the last 12 months.
Shortcuts Property Search, Mallorca’s number one property finder, reports demand for quality build and location remains strong, with increased interest in the cosmopolitan city of Palma. Work has begun on a €45m seafront congress centre and prices will be sure to reflect this, making city property a very attractive investment.
Andy Pratt from Shortcuts says: “Clients are looking for a place to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle and great weather, with the convenience of being just ten minutes from the airport and less than two hours from London. Some are even commuting weekly to their UK offices”.
Clients are also increasingly looking at buying country properties with plenty of land and privacy, as infrastructure improvements have opened up the north and south east of the island.
