Cottage revival: new homes fit for old England

10th August 2007 Print
Weavers Place - external New homebuyers’ search for the rural idyll has led to a rise in construction of the most quintessential of English dwellings – the cottage. Tucked away just outside the historic country town of Tenterden in Kent, and bordering the local conservation area, Linden Homes’ development Weavers Place offers a sought-after collection of homes in an area described as ‘The Jewel of the Weald.’

Built to reflect a classic English hamlet, Weavers Place has a variety of properties including traditional-style terrace cottages, popular with homebuyers looking for a traditional yet contemporary home. Five properties were reserved over the launch weekend as visitors had a taste of village life first hand.

All homes have been designed to reflect the Kentish architectural style, with local timber cladding and conventional tiling ensuring that the homes blend seamlessly with the surrounding area and homes of Tenterden town.

Paul Cooper, Managing Director of Linden Homes South East, comments:

“The revival of the English cottage reflects the increasing desire from homebuyers to combine traditional design with contemporary specification, particularly in rural areas of the country. Our homes are always designed with the surrounding environment and architectural style of the local area in mind. Our aim has been to extend the traditional English charm of Tenterden to the homes at Weavers Place, and our new cottages reflect the 19th century homes and shops on its famous town high street.”

Homes currently available range from two bedroom apartments to three bedroom detached homes, priced between £249,950 and £335,000. All have spacious open plan living areas and en suite master bedrooms.
