Two new showhomes unveiled at Holborough
Berkeley Homes (Kent) Ltd have unveiled two spectacular new showhomes at its flagship Holborough development near Snodland in Kent. The showhomes, which have both been dressed by Roomservice Designs, are located in Birchleigh, the second phase of Holborough, which is situated in the secluded north west corner of the development. Both showhomes overlook an impressive landscaped pond incorporating lush grassland, attractive shrubs, aquatic planting and a rock water feature.
In terms of interior styling, the two new showhomes couldn’t be more different. The new five-bedroom Harvard showhome features a highly contemporary design scheme, which mixes classic modern design pieces with a sophisticated colour palette of blacks, golds, taupes and creams. Soft mustards and bright yellows inject a feeling of warmth and vibrancy into the house, which Berkeley Homes hopes will have broad appeal.
From the carefully selected soft furnishings to the well-appointed specification, the Harvard exudes a feeling of quality throughout. The kitchen features stylish granite worktops complimented by walnut doors and a range of brushed stainless steel Bosch appliances, while the bedrooms combine beautiful textures and fabrics to create an opulent yet relaxing feel.
In addition to excellent internal specification, the Harvard provides practical, well-designed living space ideal for professional couples and growing families. The property features an integral garage and, with accommodation arranged over three floors and generously proportioned rooms, there is a real feeling of space.
Making the most of the beautiful external landscaping at Holborough, the Harvard showhome also features a well-proportioned balcony to the master bedroom as well as a beautifully landscaped rear garden designed by Chelsea Flower Show winner Scenic Blue.
As Mandy Buckland, the designer at Scenic Blue explains “The Harvard garden has been created with Indian Sandstone and Green Oak Sleepers providing a wonderful social area for outdoor dinning or just relaxing. The garden includes interesting level changes and a wrap-around raised planter with clipped topiary to provide a cosy enclosure with a focal point of a stainless steel water feature that bubbles out over black polished pebbles.
We focussed on dividing the space with simple, strong lines that are balanced, connecting the space to its contextual surroundings, softened by a palette of eye catching planting.”
Stepping into the four-bedroom Claremont showhome is like stepping into a completely different world. Taking its inspiration from the pastel coloured weatherboarding and timber balconies, the showhome has been dressed in a striking ‘New England’ style using a neutral colour palette of pale creams, duck egg blues, baby pinks and olive greens. Solid oak and white painted furniture complimented by thoughtfully selected gingham fabrics as well as storm lanterns and other ‘New England beach hunt’ inspired accessories provide the finishing touches.
Carolyn Sims, at Roomservice Designs, comments: “By using soft pastel colours together with light coloured furniture that is typical of the shaker style, we have created a bright and airy feel to the showhome. As this is a family home, the overall mood we have created is one of comfort and relaxation but there is still room for formality, for example the separate dining room offers a resurgence in formal family dining and creates an elegant feel within a very relaxed family setting.”
Accommodation is again arranged over three floors with each room exuding its own sense of character and space. The four-bedroom Claremont properties benefit from a balcony and terrace, both of which, overlook the beautifully landscaped pond as well as a generous rear garden.
All properties at Holborough benefit from Super E ® Technology, a new Canadian Government backed building initiative, which promotes energy efficiency and a healthier living environment. Benefits of this new initiative include controlled ventilation for fresher, healthier air (a real plus for asthmas and allergy sufferers), as well as advanced wall technology for improved insulation and lower energy bills.
Holborough is a landmark scheme that offers a rural location combined with excellent transport connections. Located five miles from the M2 and even closer to the M20, it provides excellent access to Maidstone and the M25.
Holborough is also perfectly located for commuters, with an average journey time into the City of approximately one hour. Eurostar, the high speed passenger train operator linking the UK and the Continent, begins international services at Ebbsfleet International station on 19 November 2007. Journey times to Paris will be just two hours and five minutes, Brussels only one hour and 51 minutes and Lille a mere one hour 20 minutes.
In 2009, commuting times to London will also benefit from this high-speed link as a new generation of high-speed trains operated by Southeastern are projected to reduce journey times into St Pancras to just 17 minutes.
A selection of one and two-bedroom apartments and three, four and five-bedroom houses are currently available at Birchleigh. Prices start from £160,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £255,000 for a three-bedroom two-storey house. Four-bedroom Claremont properties start at £395,000 while the five-bedroom Harvard’s start at £430,000.
