Cheaper living in Tonbridge

28th February 2008 Print
Cheaper living in Tonbridge A new report commissioned by the Mortgage Advice Bureau analysing the cost of buying property in the commuter belt has found that even with the rising price of train travel, the cost of living outside London and commuting in to the Capital for work still remains significantly cheaper than living in town.

Located 25 miles south east of London, Tonbridge in Kent is the ideal location for those individuals who work in the city but who are looking for a more affordable option. House prices in London average £377,807 where as in Tonbridge prices average around £295,640. At Wellington Place, the newest collection of homes at Crest Nicholson’s development The Market Quarter, purchasers can secure a fully fitted, high-specification one bedroom apartment for just £180,000.

Furthermore, now has never been a better time to buy a property at Wellington Place, in addition to the great value for money the apartments offer, Crest Nicholson is also marketing a ‘Property of the Week’, a one bedroom apartment that includes an attractive incentive package of up to £10,000 to help purchasers personalise their new home. For example customers could opt for their new apartments to be complete with fitted carpets, bespoke light fittings, curtains or decide for Crest Nicholson to cover the cost of stamp duty – the choice is theirs.

Ideal for those who work in the Capital, Wellington Place is located approximately 5-10 minutes walk from Tonbridge Mainline Station which provides frequent, direct and efficient services to London Bridge, London Waterloo East, London Charing Cross and London Canon Street with journey times from 44-50 minutes. Alternatively, the nearby A21 provides excellent links to the north, London and the M25 and south to the coast.

Pippa Bugby, Sales and Marketing Director, Crest Nicholson (South East) Ltd. comments: “With such good connections to London, Tonbridge is the ideal commuter town, particularly for those who like to escape the daily hustle and bustle of the city. In addition to good value compared to London prices, we currently have a wide range of incentives at the scheme making moving home even more affordable.”

An apartment at Wellington Place provides an ideal home for busy professionals who would prefer to spend their leisure time enjoying themselves rather than doing DIY. With a brand new apartment there is no decorating to be done and with fitted kitchens featuring a comprehensive range of integrated Bosch appliances together with elegant white bathrooms finished with stylish fittings there’s nothing to be done but to enjoy life!

The Market Quarter is situated close to the centre of Tonbridge which offers a wide range of amenities from cafes, bars and restaurants to retail and leisure facilities. In addition, Royal Tunbridge Wells is close by, offering an even wider selection.

Prices at Wellington Place start from £180,000 for a one bedroom apartment.
