Ward homes scoops prestigious award Ward homes, part of the Barratt Group, has collected two prestigious awards at the Hot Property New Homes Awards 2008. Origins in Ashford won a Gold award in the Green Homes category and Kings Hill in West Malling, Kent, achieved a Silver award in the Community category.

Shawn Luetchens, managing director of Hot Property, presented the awards at a ceremony held at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London on 7th March.

Nick Fenton, managing director of Barratt Kent and Ward Homes, commented: “We are delighted that Origins and Kings Hill won these awards against such strong competition. Building homes that are sensitive to the environment and helping to create new communities are top priorities for our company and recognition of our achievements in these areas is very gratifying.”

Origins is an attractive development of 21 houses, ranging from one to three bedrooms, close to Ashford town centre.

As Shawn Luetchens explained, Origins won the Gold Award for Green Homes “for successfully achieving a balance of designing an eco-friendly development without compromising style or specifications. The development boasts an extensive range of eco-features, to ensure it has the lowest impact on the environment possible. Ward Homes has obviously put a lot of thought into developing green homes that are still appealing to the buyer.”

Kings Hill is Kent’s flagship development of new homes, leisure amenities, shops, restaurants, schools and a nursery, set in landscaped grounds, close to West Malling. Ward Homes has built a wide range of homes, comprising two-bedroom apartments and three, four and five-bedroom houses.

Shawn Luetchens praised Kings Hill for “its easy blend of reasonably priced but diverse new homes with facilities and landscaped outdoor areas to create a real sense of community”. He added: “It provides an excellent example of how to not only build houses but build homes. A true regeneration success story, it will be a positive contribution to the wider community of West Malling, Kent, by providing buyers with appealing yet affordable options.”

Three, four and five-bedroom houses are available for sale at Kings Hill, at prices starting from £260,000. For further information, visit Wardhomes.co.uk.

All the homes at Origins have now been reserved.

The Hot Property New Homes Awards are now in their seventh year. The categories include Community, Commutability, Design and Innovation, Green Homes, Value for Money, Waterside Homes, Family Homes, Investor Potential, and Metropolitan Living.

The awards have grown significantly since their inception in 2000, and the organisers report that this year they were more impressive than ever, both in terms of the number of applications and the quality of entries.
