Nothing run of the mill at Holborough

12th June 2008 Print
Many people believe that new build developments are too similar to each other, with all the homes lined up in rows looking identical to each other. At Holborough, Berkeley Homes (Kent) Ltd's flagship development near Snodland, there is a unique architectural style and varied street scenes to stave off uniformity.

The key to diversity at Holborough is the New England-style architecture, with the coloured façades, distinctive weatherboarding and whitewashed timber details flooding the development with a feeling of freshness. From artic white and country lane red to mountain sage and khaki brown, the distinctive weatherboarding takes on many shades at Holborough, resulting in a vibrant display of colour throughout the scheme.

The regimental look is also avoided by Berkeley Homes' clever plotting skills. The homes in the current Birchleigh phase are attractively set in clusters, with some grouped around the impressive landscaped pond, while the previous Boulevard phase, as the name suggests, took a more linear form. With an imaginative development layout in place, it is left to the house types to provide further interest.

Holborough has ten property types available, including two-bedroom Lexington apartments that are set in attractive blocks, three-bedroom ‘Madison' townhouses, four-bedroom ‘Claremont' detached homes and five bedroom ‘Harvard' detached properties. Instead of each property type being grouped together, the homes are mixed up, creating various roof heights and focal points.

Even the floor plans at Holborough provide startling choice and variety, with open plan options, formal drawing rooms, traditional two-up, two-down houses, family rooms and dressing rooms on offer.

Piers Clanford, Managing Director at Berkeley Homes (Kent) Ltd, comments: "We know from our past development at Leybourne Lakes that purchasers crave individuality so we have strived to create a sense of uniqueness at Holborough. The combination of property types, façade colours and imaginative arrangement of buildings allows us to create exciting street scenes and distinct identities. What's more, the New-England architectural style means purchasers have a refreshing alternative to traditional brick fronted properties."
