Ashford site manager is streets ahead in the quality stakes

Ashford site manager is streets ahead in the quality stakes Andy Mount (pictured) has made it four in a row in an industry-wide competition that rewards housebuilders' site managers for their achievements. The 60-year-old site manager with Redrow Homes must wait until the autumn to find out if he's won a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence' but, in the meantime, he's celebrating his fourth consecutive ‘Quality' award in the National House-Building Council's (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative.

All four ‘Quality' awards have been for Andy's work at De Montford Park, in Ashford, Kent, where the eighth phase - The Paddocks - is now underway and features a wide selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

One of only 400 site managers from 18,000 across the UK to win an NHBC ‘Quality' award this year - and one of eight Redrow site managers enjoying success - Andy's achievement reflects the calibre of his site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

Andy, who lives in Broadstairs, Kent, with his wife Scilla and has worked for Redrow for seven years, says: "I've been on this site for five-and-a-half years now and been really lucky to have the same sub-contractors around me all that time, which makes for a well-oiled machine. It's also a big bonus to have one of my sons, Austin, working with me as my assistant site manager. He does a lot of the finishing and should take much of the credit for this award."

Asked what advice he'd give to fellow site managers wishing to emulate his winning streak, he added: "You've really got to get to know all of your sub-contractors individually and work with them as a team. It's also important to keep a tidy and organised site and to create an environment where people are motivated and enjoy working."

Andy will attend a special presentation ceremony later this year when he will find out if he has also won a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence'.

Homes built under Andy's award winning care and currently for sale at The Paddocks @ De Montford Park include three-bedroom end terraces from £205,000 and four-bedroom detached homes at £285,000. For further details log on to Redrow.co.uk.
