From blank canvas to personalised home
Purchasers at two of Kent’s flagship new homes developments are being given the opportunity to personalise their new home with Signature – a Berkeley Homes initiative designed to take the effort out of sourcing fixtures and fittings for your new home. The Signature package is in operation at Holborough near Maidstone and at the new Kingsbrook Park development in Canterbury. Both developments have a Signature area in the Sales and Marketing suite, where purchasers can view the personalisation choices on offer. There’s even a purpose-built facility where people can try out different worktops with different kitchen cabinet doors, helping them to visualise what their new kitchen will look like.
Berkeley Homes (Kent) Ltd’s Kirsty Sinclair is the dedicated Customer Relations Manager for Signature, and she will be on hand to guide purchasers through the variety of optional upgrades and extras available on each scheme. Kirsty comments: “The aim of Signature is to allow purchasers to get involved in choosing the finishes for their new home to give it a more personal touch.”
New homes are popular for their ‘blank canvas’ status but sourcing the right fixtures and fittings to achieve the dream look can be time consuming and confusing. The Signature service has been introduced to make tailoring a new home easy and without the need for lots of DIY, with a carefully selected collection of options to choose from and the installation complete before the owner moves in.
The Signature upgrade options span five areas – kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, internal, and electrical/security - each bursting with a choice of finishes and colour options with many of the options being demonstrated in the developments’ showhomes.
In the kitchens and bathrooms purchasers can choose from a selection of upgrades to enhance the excellent specification that Berkeley Homes offers as standard. Kitchen upgrades include composite stone worktops and up-stands, as well as a range of upgrade kitchen doors. Purchasers are also given the flexibility to add additional kitchen units, Bosch appliances and other white goods, while bathrooms can be enhanced with a variety of additional wall tiling options.
There are a number of flooring options to choose from throughout each new home. With an extensive range of carpets, ceramic tiling, wood flooring, Karndean and vinyl flooring to choose from, purchasers can select a finish to suit their individual taste and requirements.
The electrical and security options not only allow purchasers to add finishing touches to their new home but also help to provide a more secure environment for themselves and their family. Standard sockets and switches can be upgraded to a chrome finish, security can be enhanced with a wireless alarm system and there’s the option to add an external power point. Lighting packages can be tailored to create the right atmosphere, with an emphasis on energy efficient fittings.
The most creative elements of Signature are the internal fittings. Purchasers can add that finishing touch to their new home by choosing from a variety of soft furnishing options as well as a stylish range of Italian fitted wardrobes in a variety of styles and finishes. The made-to-measure curtain and blind service is totally interactive, with the purchaser able to review sizes, fabrics and prices online before they purchase. In addition to window treatments, co-ordinating headboards, bed throws and bed linen can also be provided.
Kirsty concludes by saying: “We expect the flooring and wardrobe options to be the most popular options as fitting these elements after you’ve moved in can cause upheaval. With Signature you don’t need to worry about anything as Berkeley Homes will endeavour to install everything prior to the removal vans arriving.”
