Asprey Homes expands land portfolio in Kent

Situated within a Conservation Area, plans for the development were met with keen interest by local residents. Asprey Homes arranged a consultation meeting in January which was attended by around 50 local people where their views were taken on board as to how the site should be progressed. Amongst the residents concerns were the retention of a green “square” on site, as well as ensuring the sympathetic design of the new housing proposed.
Asprey Homes listened to residents and successfully addressed such concerns accordingly in formulating the schemes design. As a result, the site will retain a landscaped green in the south east corner of what was the bowling green, maintaining an open vista to the street scene. Asprey Homes will also incorporate a series of design features in the new-build element which are sympathetic to the prevalent style of properties in the immediate vicinity, including; angled bays, large gables and the use of traditional building materials. In addition Asprey Homes decided to reduce the number of dwellings on site from the previous Outline planning approval obtained by the vendor, the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution.
Bruce Walker, Chief Executive of Asprey Homes comments: “The Holbrook Lane project is a strong example of how Asprey Homes looks to work with key stakeholders, from the initial vendor, to local residents and planning authorities, in order to create a development that is sympathetic to the local area and delivers a quality product to our purchasers.”
Bruce continues: “We have already established links within Chislehurst through previous projects and on 27th September will be the proud sponsors of the Big Draw on Chislehurst Common, a national event inviting children to participate in art-related projects.”
Once complete, the development will consist of the refurbishment of the existing two and three bedroom houses, as well as two further spacious one and two bedroom apartments. Meanwhile, the former clubhouse building will be converted into a two bedroom detached barn, while a new-build element of seven attractive 2 ½ storey houses will complete the project.
Holbrook Lane is ideally placed for all that Chislehurst has to offer, with the delightful shops on Royal Parade and the scenic common within walking distance. Also within easy reach are Chislehurst Station and the A20, both providing simple access into London. Construction has only recently started on the project which is expected to be completed in autumn / winter 2009 with prices to starting from £300,000.
