Ward Homes invests in Snodland’s community

9th April 2009 Print
Local councillors and directors of leading Kent housebuilder Ward Homes met recently to celebrate the commencement of work at Snodland Community Centre.

Ward Homes is creating new sports facilities, including a gym and boxing centre, which will be located alongside the existing community centre at Potyns Field, off Paddlesworth Road in Snodland, situated between Leybourne and Rochester.

The community facilities are being built as part of the agreement for Ward Homes to build its stunning new development in Snodland: Pavilion Place. This select development will comprise 44 two, three and four bedroom houses and the first homes will be ready for occupation later this summer. Prices are expected to start from £190,000. 13 of the new homes will be provided as affordable housing.

Present to witness the first spade in the ground were Councillor Chris Block, Chairman of the Council and Councillors Anne Moloney, Karen Woolley, Julian Atkins and Dave Keeley, alongside Nick Fenton, Managing Director, Tim Nabbs, Sales Director and Geoff Blake, Land Director from Ward Homes.

Unlike many developments, the new sports facilities are being built at the outset of the project so that Ward Homes can show its commitment to this tight knit community.

Councillor Chris Block comments: “It’s great to have Ward Homes working so closely with the council and contributing towards new amenities for Snodland’s community. The new gym and boxing centre will be fantastic and will be greatly appreciated by Snodland’s community.”

Nick Fenton, Managing Director for Ward Homes, comments: “We are delighted to have started construction on the new community facilities already in addition to the fantastic new homes at Pavilion Place. The site is in an excellent position, close to the town centre and adjacent to Snodland Station, making it a very convenient place to live. Whilst other developers are slowing down, Ward Homes is continuing to build homes in order to meet with demand for increased housing.”

The site has attracted much local interest as a consequence of an archaeological dig, which unearthed coins and a brooch dating back to Roman times, when a villa occupied the site.

Pavilion Place will offer a selection of different house styles including terraced, semi-detached and detached. Each house will have a good-sized garden and there will be a children’s play area within the development, making it ideal for families.

Transport links from Pavilion Place are excellent. Snodland station is just five minutes’ walk away and provides regular services to London Bridge which can be reached in just over an hour. There are also regular bus services into Snodland town centre and Gatwick Airport is around a 40 minute drive away.

Snodland is an attractive town with a wide variety of restaurants, pubs and shops suitable for everyday needs. For a greater choice of amenities, Maidstone is ten miles away.
