Couple swap old for new with George Wimpey

The couple relocated from Barry in South Wales after Paul joined marine consultancy Brookes Bell based in Sidcup as a consultant and surveyor. They chose a new, four-bedroom home at the Furfield Park development.
Paul says: “Our previous two homes in Barry were new George Wimpey properties and we were very happy with them. We looked at quite a few different developments before moving, including Redhill in Surrey, but a major influence over our choice was that we could get quite a lot more home for our money in Maidstone.”
Paul and Louise chose a spacious ‘Hampstead’ townhouse, featuring a lounge with adjoining dining room, a separate kitchen, and a cloakroom off the entrance hallway. The two upper storeys are home to four double bedrooms – two with en-suite facilities – and a main bathroom. Outside there is a garage and a private garden.
“We’ve always wanted to live in a townhouse,” adds Paul. “The lounge is more spacious than the last property we owned in Barry, and the kitchen is well-designed with plenty of worktop space and units for storage.”
Paul (41) and Louise (36) were familiar with the ease of George Wimpey’s part-exchange programme before their latest move. Their first home together was a three-bedroom property at one of the housebuilder’s earlier developments in Barry, and after 18 months the couple moved just 200 yards, to a larger George Wimpey home in the same new neighbourhood.
This time they have travelled more than 200 miles for their move – and with the help of George Wimpey’s sales staff at the development, chose their home and ‘Options’ such as tiles and floorings, in just one, four-hour visit.
“We love the layout of our new home,” adds Paul. “The sales staff at the development made moving very easy for us, and using the part-exchange scheme we didn’t have to worry about marketing our old home through estate agents.”
Customers can currently purchase the semi-detached, four-bedroom ‘Hampstead’ housetype at the development from £249,995, with alternative four-bedroom designs starting at £229,995, while the three-bedroom ‘Jarvis’ townhouse is priced from £217,995.
All new homes at Furfield Park enjoy a high standard specification including gas central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.
Furfield Park is ideally located within easy reach of Maidstone’s new Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre and a choice of supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and leisure activities, including a swimming pool, gym, bowling alleys and multi-screen cinema.
Local education facilities in the private and state sectors are excellent, including well-respected grammar schools and Maidstone's prestigious Kent Institute of Art and Design.
As an alternative to part-exchange, those interested in making their move can take advantage of George Wimpey’s ‘easymover’ scheme, offering customers with a house to sell the opportunity to reserve their new home and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder helps to find a buyer for their current property.
Incentives can be tailored to homebuyers’ circumstances and are subject to availability. Further details are available from the Sales Executive.
