Bronze sculpture unveiled at Kemsley Fields

Bronze sculpture unveiled at Kemsley Fields Leading house-builder Bryant Homes has installed a 10ft tall sculpture as an eye-catching centrepiece at its Kemsley Fields development near Sittingbourne. With just 12 homes remaining for sale at the development, the leading house-builder is adding attractive landscaping to complement the range of homes – and commissioned Kent artist Steven Ritchie to create a sculpture to add a unique finishing touch to the new neighbourhood.

“I have felt in the past that developers and residents have sometimes been short-changed by the public works of art that have been created. I wanted to give the residents of Kemsley Fields something they could be proud of – something that would be more than a ‘one glance’ sculpture and that would enhance the area.”

After researching the area’s local history and seeing a Bronze Age axe head at the local museum in Sittingbourne, Steven came up with a design to reflect the area’s long social history, and its unchanging natural geography.

The axe head, together with flow of The Swale, which separates Kemsley from the Isle of Sheppey, are now represented in stainless steel, which was acquired by Steven as scrap metal from local firm Bilting Mushrooms.

Laura Bellamy, Bryant Homes’ Regional Sales Manager, says: “We’re delighted with the new sculpture, which reflects the blend of tradition and contemporary style which we have created at Kemlsey Fields.

“It’s certainly an eye-catching work of public art, and now it is in place we’re encouraging everyone to come along and see it for themselves!”

The fascinating new sculpture can be seen by visiting the Kemsley Fields development off Lloyd Drive in Kemsley, four miles from Sittingbourne.

Visitors can also see the showhouse at the development, and find out more about the final 12 homes available, which include three-bedroom designs priced from only £159,995 and four-bedroom homes starting at just £194,995.

All new homes at Kemsley Fields enjoy a high standard specification including central heating, double glazing and a fully fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.

Bryant offers its customers a range of incentives to help to make moving simple, including its popular Marketmover scheme through which those with a property to sell will receive assistance in finding a buyer for their existing home and their stamp duty and estate agent’s fees paid.

First-time buyers can also receive assistance with their deposit and legal fees.

Kemsley Fields is within easy reach of Sittingbourne’s good selection of major high street stores, weekly market and plenty of parking.

The town also has a choice of pubs and restaurants. Slightly further afield, Faversham, Maidstone and the Medway towns of Chatham, Gillingham and Rochester offer a huge range of shopping, sporting and leisure attractions.

There’s also access to the A2, the M2 and M20 and regular services from Kemsley station – just a short walk away – to London Victoria and Gatwick airport.

The sculpture, showhouse and Marketing Suite are located off Lloyd Drive, Kemsley, Sittingbourne and open Thursday to Monday from 9.30am to 5pm.
