Kent site manager gets the ‘Seal of Excellence’ Paul Deacon has taken a break from building homes for an award-winning developer to collect an accolade of his own in an industry-wide competition that rewards sites managers for their achievements.

The 58-year old site manager at Redrow’s Cannons Wharf in Tonbridge, is celebrating winning again in the National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative.

It’s the second time Paul, a father of four, has picked up a Quality award and he will now find out in October if he has won a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence’. The Awards will then culminate with the announcement of the four overall Supreme Award winners at a gala ceremony in London in January 2010.

Paul won the latest honour for his work at Cannons Wharf, a new development in Tonbridge which will feature a fine array of contemporary one and two-bedroom apartments. A respected employee thanks to his 42 years of experience in construction, beginning as a management trainee, he specialises in high rise developments which was why he was selected to lead the construction of Cannons Wharf.

He was one of only 406 site managers from 13,000 across the UK to win an NHBC ‘Quality’ award this year and one of seven Redrow site managers enjoying success. Paul’s achievement reflects the calibre of his site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

Paul, who lives in Headcorne, Kent with his wife Elizabeth, said: “It’s fantastic to be honoured again by the NHBC and I take it as a great compliment for both myself and the construction team. A manager is only as good as the people around him and we are all working tirelessly to deliver quality homes at Cannons Wharf.”

The homes built under Paul’s care at Cannons Wharf will enjoy the quality finish expected from Redrow and a great location. The development, situated on Medway Wharf Road, will enjoy water views over the Medway River and a close proximity to Tonbridge high street.
