Live and learn at The Bridge near Dartford

11th September 2009 Print
Live and learn at The Bridge near Dartford The £7.5m lifelong learning and community hub for George Wimpey’s The Bridge development near Dartford will open next month, further establishing the location as one of the most exciting new places to live in Europe.

As well as providing a range of outstanding new homes in the South East – boasting unique contemporary architecture and stylish interiors – the community will also benefit from shops, small offices and live-work units, a hotel, a gym and 80 acres of public open space, parks and lakes.

The Bridge has proved especially popular with first-time buyers, who have been drawn to the outstanding variety of ‘starter homes’ available at the development.

There are just nine homes remaining on this current phase of the development.

These include a fabulous family home, the Windsor, priced from £249,995 and featuring accommodation over three floors, with a spacious living/dining room and open plan kitchen.

The first floor comprises just two rooms, each with a Juliette balcony: a second living room/den and the master bedroom with en-suite shower. Three further bedrooms and the family bathroom are located on the top floor, and outside there is allocated parking.

Other superb three and four-bedroom homes available are currently available priced from £237,495.

Residents who have moved into The Bridge are already establishing a strong sense of community. Earlier this year excited youngsters turned up to take part in the National Playday initiative, which encouraged families to make time during the day to play and was held in one of the development’s new pocket parks.

A ‘Big Lunch’ street party was held in July, giving new residents a great opportunity to get to know their neighbours, and a Big Balloon Race was held last year, when prospective purchasers launched their own balloon from the development with the chance to win its owner a fantastic balloon ride.

Next month, they will see the opening of the state-of-the-art new ‘Learning Hub’, which includes a 420-place primary school, a 26-place nursery, a youth centre, adult education, library access, a community meeting room, a police point and a health consulting room.

The Hub is a joint development venture by Dartford Borough Council, Prologis and George Wimpey, with learning campus funding also provided by Kent County Council.

The new school will have a striking funnel design for its main reception, in keeping with the area’s association with the Thames. There will be a central atrium in the style of a mini-Eden Project, rainwater harvesting, and energy conservation features. Special facilities will be included for people with disabilities.

Mark Pajak, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “The Bridge sits conveniently at the heart of Europe’s largest regeneration project and is an exciting and dynamic place to live.

“The combination of quality homes and outstanding state-of-the-art facilities has made it an extremely popular choice with homebuyers in the South East.”

The second phase of this popular development is due to be released shortly offering more fabulous one and two bedroom apartments.

Close to London, the River Thames and QEII Bridge, the development offers sustainable living in an area supported by superb public transport, pedestrian and cycle links including a Fastrack bus service to Dartford, Bluewater shopping centre and railway stations at Dartford, Greenhithe, Gravesend and Ebbsfleet.

Ebbsfleet International is poised to begin frequent 18-minute services to London St Pancras and will become the UK’s fastest route to Europe – just 125 minutes to Paris, 101 minutes to Brussels and 70 minutes to Lille.
