Buyers take their pick of new homes in Maidstone

18th September 2009 Print
With signs that house prices are on the up, savvy homebuyers who want the pick of the best plots at today’s prices should move swiftly to register their interest in Redrow’s new Maidstone homes.

With the first homes due to go on sale at Sutton Woods in October, Redrow Homes is offering purchasers the opportunity to register their interest now for the launch event. They will then be the first to receive new information on the development and have the initial choice of the best homes in this sought-after area.

In addition, if they reserve a property ‘off plan’, they will the opportunity to buy at current market value, which means if prices continue to rise in line with recent trends, buyers could potentially move into a house which is already worth more than they paid for it.

A recent survey by Nationwide found that house prices rose for the fourth consecutive month in August, up 1.6% on the previous month, indicating that the window of opportunity to pick up the best buys in popular areas could be closing.

This improving trend has also led the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to revise its house price predictions for 2009, with its August update now forecasting that prices at the end of the year will be higher than for the same period last year, as opposed to the 10% drop it had previously predicted.*

Beryl Williams, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Eastern), said: “We are starting to see a more consistent upward trend in house prices, a sign that the market may have reached the bottom and is beginning to recover.

“With that in mind we are offering potential purchasers the chance to register their interest in Sutton Woods now ahead of our October launch. If they select their preferred plot early, before the homes have even been built, they can secure it for the current price - a bonus for them if prices continue to rise before they move in.

“Buying ‘off plan’ also means purchasers can personally select many of the individual upgrades and design aspects of their new home, such as kitchen units and work surfaces, bathroom suites and a host of other features like fireplaces, banisters, doors and many more, which all add up to making their new home their own.”

Situated on the former Senacre College site, off Sutton Road, in Maidstone, the extensive development of 350 new homes, ranging from two, three and four-bedroom homes, will have something to suit every type of buyer.

Sutton Woods will incorporate many existing mature trees and also five acres of open space. It is close to all the amenities of Maidstone town centre as well as just a short walk from the picturesque Mote Park.

It will be a development for modern life in the 21st century, built to comply with the Government’s sustainability requirements for ‘Code 3’. The new homes will feature solar power renewable energy systems, low-use water management systems and low energy use fittings.
