Miller sales adviser walks streets of Barnsley for charity
Emma Goodwin braved the late night party goers on Saturday to walk the streets of Barnsley dressed only in pyjamas for a local charity. Emma, 25, originally from Barnsley and now lives in Rotherham, is sales adviser for Miller Homes Yorkshire at the company’s popular Chatsworth Park development in Chesterfield.Emma said: “I have lived in Barnsley for the majority of my life not far from the Hospital and the Barnsley Hospice which I have connections with. I really wanted to support the charity, especially this year as a family friend who is also a volunteer for the Hospice is quite ill.”
Emma along with her mum and 400 other women, donned their pyjamas, leaving their fluffy pink slippers firmly beside their beds, to walk the 13.1 mile around the town. Emma continued: “It was really enjoyable but tiring. I’d like to thank everyone that pledged a donation and especially Miller Homes and staff for their fantastic donation of £250 and of course our high visibility jackets!”
The Barnsley Hospice provides palliative care for patients with a life threatening illness. It has annual running costs of £1.8million of which 50% is kindly received by public and corporate donations and fundraising events. The hospice has touched thousands of people and continues to provide care for patients and their families throughout the Barnsley region.
Steve Birch, managing director of Miller Homes Yorkshire said: “As a homebuilding company supporting families, whether they be our customers or staff, is something we are keen to do. I think the Barnsley Hospice is a very worthwhile charity and I applaud Emma and her mum Gilly for their efforts.”
