Barnsley site manager scoops top quality award Persimmon Homes’ site manager, Ian Littlewood, has had his diligence and hard work recognised by the National House-Building Council (NHBC) after winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award.

One of just 400 site managers nationwide to receive the Quality Award accolade, Ian was awarded the prize for his work at The Ridge, where, under the guidance of regional contracts manager, Steve Holmes, he is currently overseeing the construction of 116 new homes.

Quick to congratulate Ian, Persimmon’s regional construction director, Graham Hill, said: “It is fantastic to see one of our site managers being recognised for the dedication and expertise which is vital to ensuring all of our homes are built to the high standard upon which we have built our reputation.

“Competing against 15,000 other site managers nationwide, it is no small achievement to receive a Quality Award, and Ian has worked extremely hard to consistently maintain the outstanding standard of work required to win one of these awards.

“The combination of a skilled team on site, Ian’s excellent craftsmanship and fantastic leadership skills makes him an invaluable member of our team and he is a deserved winner.”

Ian will now go forward to compete in the next round of the Pride in the Job awards for a Top 100 Seal of Excellence Award and a Regional Award. The competition reaches its climax in January 2008 when the UK's three overall Supreme winners will be announced at a Gala Awards ceremony in London.

Now in its 27th year, NHBC's Pride in the Job is the only national competition to focus on the contribution the site manager makes in producing high quality new homes. Over 18,000 site managers are entered into the awards and each are assessed across 38 aspects of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

Persimmon Homes’ ‘The Ridge’ development at Roebuck Hill in Jump on the outskirts of Barnsley features a mix of two bedroom bungalows, three bedroom homes, which includes a number of contemporary three storey’s and traditional four bedroom properties.

Local amenities are plentiful in Wombwell with a wider selection found in Barnsley or further afield in Doncaster or Sheffield. Ideal for commuters, the development is adjacent to the A6195 Dearne Valley Parkway enabling good access to the M1. Homes on release are currently priced from £169,995.
