A picture of history for Jones Homes

Jones Homes (Northern) Ltd has taken a step to preserve the history of Treeton by sponsoring the ‘Treeton: Now and Then’ photographic supplement, produced by local resident Dr Ian Bickle. As one of Yorkshire’s leading regional homebuilders, Jones Homes is keen to conserve the identity of Treeton, the location of its delightful Beaumont Park development, and ensure that its heritage stands the test of time.

Dr Ian Bickle, a resident at Beaumont Park for two years, enlisted the help of Ben Stockham and expert input from The Archives and Local Studies Department at Rotherham Library, to compile the historic photographic supplement.

With the help of Jones Homes, ‘Treeton: Now and Then’ has been distributed free to over 1000 homes in the area, with plans for a second edition in the pipeline.

Dr Ian Bickle, who works at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, says: “I wanted to produce something which would appeal to the whole village, existing and new residents, young and old generations, showing the dramatic impact of the last 15 years. My aim is that it will encourage the village’s older residents to reminisce about the past and educate new and younger members.”
