Home owners are ‘on the busses’ in Doncaster

Each household at the award-winning developer’s Danum St Giles venture, in Scawthorpe, has been issued with an annual pass worth £850 that enables free travel on all buses operating in the Doncaster network.
Among those enjoying the ride - and the savings - are Kevin and Lisa Swift, who moved to Danum St Giles in March last year with their six-year-old daughter Ellie to enjoy the quieter surroundings.
Kevin, a builder’s merchant comments: “My wife’s work as a health career means Ellie is with her godmother three days out the week so we decided it would prove more beneficial to give it to her to use when she takes Ellie out.
“It means that they can both go shopping into town and enjoy other day trips without us having to fork out the extra cash for travel.
“It’s another example of how Redrow has helped make our move to Danum St Giles one of the best decisions we have ever made.”
The bus passes were one of the conditions agreed with the local council as part of Redrow’s planning consent for the venture and just one example of how Redrow supports the communities in which it builds. One free bus pas will continue to be issued to each new household until the 165 property development is completed.
Giselle Ledgard, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “Redrow always strives to support the communities in which it builds, whether through section 106 agreements attached to planning applications or general involvement in local life.
“The bus passes are a great way to save residents money whilst helping the environment. We have also made other contributions to the local community, which include a new bus shelter and a new public open space with play facilities, as well as affordable housing.”
Building at Danum St Giles is racing ahead with a collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes now available at the site, off Amersall Road in Scawthorpe, with prices starting at £99,950.
It is situated just three miles north west of Doncaster city centre, with its wealth of bars, restaurants and shops. Bentley railway station is under half a mile away, and regular services run to Doncaster, Leeds and Sheffield – making it ideally located for commuters. The Doncaster/Sheffield Robin Hood airport is under 30 minutes away, and both the A1 and M18 motorways are also nearby.
