Closer than Crete, warmer than the UK

The new service will operate every Saturday evening, and complements the regular Tuesday morning service. This has been operating since summer 2005 and for Summer 2007 will operate from April 03 to October 30.
Eng Manuel Cansado, SATA’s President, said: “We have carefully analysed the traffic on this important route and we believe that there is a strong demand for different holiday durations. Our previous service encouraged one and two-week trips. Now we can also offer 3 and 4 night short breaks, as well as 10 and 11 nights, and longer durations. Our direct flights bring the beautiful islands of the Azores even closer to the UK than ever before. We have a shorter flying time than many of the Greek Islands and our climate is good all year round. We don’t suffer from the extreme temperatures that the Mediterranean islands experience during the peak summer months”
SATA’s services operate from the South Terminal at Gatwick, departing on Tuesday at 11:45 local and on Saturday at 19:40. The aircraft is an Airbus A320-200 with 161 seats, split 12 business class and 149 economy.
The new service is featured in a number of Tour Operators brochures, which offer different types of accommodation and activities holidays. In particular Sunvil Holidays, who have a dedicated brochure for their Azores programme; Portuguese-owned Atlantic Holidays; Holiday Options, Saga Holidays, Cosmos Air Holidays and the specialist, Archipelago Azores.
