Avianca acquires fleet of Boeing 737-800 Dreamliners

As part of a process of fleet modernisation, the Colombian airline, Avianca has announced an order for 10 Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner aircraft direct from the manufacturer. Seven of the the new aircraft will be used on Avianca's transatlantic routes from Bogota to Madrid and Barcelona as well as it's long haul routes to the US, Brasil and Chile. The remaining three aircraft will be utilised by other members of the Synergy group of airlines.

The President of Avianca, Fabio Villegas Ramirez said "With this order for the new Boeing 737-800 Dreamliners, like we were three decades ago when we were the pioneers of operating the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet in Latin America, Avianca will return to the leading edge of commercial aviation."
