Korean Air awarded best economy class

Korean Air Korean Air has scooped the coveted OAG award for the Best Economy Class at the annual Airline of the Year Awards held at the Landmark Hotel in London on Tuesday 17 April 2007.

Sports presenter Steve Ryder, in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal, hosted the ceremony, attended by leading figures in the airline industry. The evening also marked the Awards’ 25th anniversary.

The award is a result of Korean Air’s determination to provide the highest levels of onboard service and comfort to its guests. With award winning catering, new comfortable seats with a generous seat pitch and cutting edge entertainment systems, Korean Air’s Economy Class service has met with high praise from travellers around the world.

Mr. Jonghee Lee, President of Korean Air, said, “Korean Air aspires to excel in the industry and this aspiration is the driving force behind our innovative services and facilities for our customers. The goal of achieving “Excellence in Flight” will continue to serve as our guiding direction and we hope we can continue to win the hearts of our passengers and the support of our industry partners.”

The award was received by Mr Dal Ho Kang, Korean Air Managing Vice President for Europe, M.E & Africa. Korean Air was also short-listed for the following awards:

Best International First Class
Best Airline Based in Asia

Seoul Incheon International Airport, Korean Air’s home and hub, received the OAG Award for Best Airport.

With a modern fleet of 121 aircraft, multi-award winning Korean Air is one of the world’s top 20 passenger carriers, flying to over 100 destinations.

Korean Air is a frequent winner of industry awards. In February this year, Korean Air was named one of the best Cellars in the Sky by Business Traveller and in March, it won the Mercury Award from the International Travel Catering Association (ITCA) for the development and service implementation of “A Letter From Flying Mom” service for unaccompanied minor passengers and their families.

Korean Air is a founder member of the SkyTeam Alliance.
