Aer Arann, one of the fastest growing regional airlines, will this week launch their new route from Newcastle to Galway. Newcastle’s local musicians Tony Corcoran and Paul Hetherington will be at the airport to celebrate with dancers from the Healy School of Irish Dancing in Newcastle. The celebrations continue as the first passengers to check-in receive free flights from Aer Arann.

As the largest county in Connaught, Galway takes centre stage on Ireland’s western seaboard. An astoundingly beautiful area with striking countryside it also boasts the vibrant city of Galway. Offering superb golf and fishing as well as a variety of attractions including Thoor Ballylee tower and Dunguaire Castle, it has a fascinating medieval past which can be seen in the various relics and ancient architecture. With a unique juxtaposition of the picturesque and cosmopolitan, Galway is a must for anyone in the North East looking to get away this summer.

Aer Arann is providing flights between Newcastle and Galway on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, ideal for weekend breaks and in perfect time for summer holidays. Flights are available from £35 one way including tax.

Adding a completely new destination to our departure board is always exciting and I’m sure the west coast of Ireland will become a very popular leisure break for north east travellers. The flight times make this an ideal two, three or four night weekend break – just enough time to sample the stunning scenery, superb golf courses and famous hospitality on offer.”
