Star Alliance announces special “Round the World” ticket tariffs

Customers will be able to purchase “Round the World” tickets in coach class for less money in the months of August and September, with the launch of special commemorative ticket tariffs for the 10th anniversary of Star Alliance.

Within the context of a series of initiatives to mark its 10 year history in 2007, Star Alliance is offering a 10 percent discount on all “Round the World” tickets in coach class purchased between August 1 and September 30 2007.

When using “Star Alliance Round the World” tariffs, customers may put together their own itineraries in order to go on trips circumnavigating the Globe, flying both East and West on any of the 16 thousand daily flights to 855 destinations in 155 countries offered by the 12 Alliance member companies.

With this goal, three different tariffs have been created covering specifically routs of 29,000 miles, 34,000 miles and 39,000 miles that guarantee passengers the possibility of visiting between three and 15 different destinations. In addition to these, there is also a tariff on off that applies to airline travel up to 26,000 miles which can also include between 3 and 5 locations.

The special 10 percent discounts for the August and September period are included in the tariffs available in the computerized reservations system for those dates. The ticket may be booked and purchased through local travel agents or at any of the 17 Star Alliance airline companies.

To program their trips, customers can use the “Star Alliance Round the World Calculator”, an online tool available at the web site, Staralliance.com.

With this tool both customers and travel agents can put together complete itineraries online, corresponding to applicable tariff regulations. Once the entire trip has been planned, this can be transmitted to a reservation center at one of the member companies. It can also be printed out and sent via fax to a travel agent to make a reservation and issue tickets or simply stored on computer for future use.

Star Alliance also offers “Round the World” tariffs in First o Business Class.

In these cases, reservations can be made at normal prices with no discount since there are not covered by the 10th anniversary special offer.
