Korean Air sponsors multimedia at the Louvre

As part of the agreement to co-sponsor the Louvre’s innovative new multimedia guide, commentary is translated into seven languages including English, German and Korean; indeed, this is also the first time any guide has been available in their mother-tongue for the tens of thousands of Korean visitors who visit the Louvre.
However, according to Korean Air, this is only a first step in its strategy to create new cultural partnerships in different countries around the world.
“This is the first in an exciting series of partnerships that will see Korean Air positioned as the airline company that encourages and facilitates cultural exchanges. Millions of people appreciate art and culture and a similar number enjoy travel. We are creating a bond between these two worlds that will benefit the global cultural community,” says Korean Air Chairman and CEO, Mr Y.H. Cho.
“As our business expands in Europe, we will have a quality of dialogue with upmarket travellers here enjoyed by no other airline, thanks to our relationship with one of its most respected artistic and cultural institutions, the Musee du Lourve,” Mr Cho adds.
“We wish to become ‘cultural ambassadors’ in order to attract new publics and let them have access to many of the world’s greatest museums,” Mr Cho concludes.
Since privatisation in 1969, Korean Air has continually sought to fulfil its goal of becoming a respected leader in the world airline industry, by offering ‘Excellence in Flight.’
Today, Korean Air provides passenger and cargo services to over 110 destinations worldwide with a fleet of 126 planes including the world’s most advanced aircraft and over 16,000 dedicated and professional employees.
According to 2006 statistics released by the International Air Transport Association, Korean Air was ranked number one carrier in international cargo business in terms of freight-ton-km and world number 16 in international passenger business in terms of revenue-passenger-km.
As a leading carrier Korean Air, in conjunction with Air France, Delta Air Lines and Areo Mexico, co-founded Sky Team Alliance in June 2000 and played a key role in making Sky Team Alliance successful. Today, Sky Team is the world’s second largest airline alliance group serving 841 destinations in more than 160 countries, with 16,409 daily flights available on an extensive global network of hubs and destinations.
