Star Alliance has improved the options offered by the “Round the World” mileage calculator (RTW MC) launched on the Internet in 2006. Customers are now able to access the following new functions to help plan their trips: Dynamic Mapping, Seven-Day Look-Up, Historical Weather Look-Up and the Airport Finder.

In addition to Circle Fare and Airpass Calculator that already offered these options, the new "Round the World” Mileage Calculator options can now be found at Staralliance.com/fareproductcalculators.

With Dynamic Mapping all Star Alliance destinations are made available on a digital world map that enables preferred countries or regions to be highlighted.

Seven-Day Look Up makes all possible connections for a week for the desired itinerary available. Choice of the best time to travel can be found via the Historical Weather Look-Up option which provides a monthly summary of average meteorology conditions for the last 10 years.

Airport Finder indicates the airport operated by a Star Alliance member company that is closest to the final destination.

“These new options allied with the our 19 member companies, 160 countries and 897 airports available via this exclusive Star Alliance ticket tariff product – Round the World Mileage Calculator – enables even greater flexibility and more detailed planning for an endless range of possible itineraries that are better adapted to the needs of each customer" said Horst Findeisen, Vice-Chairman of Star Alliance Business Development.

“We now offer mileage calculators for Circle Fares and Airpasses and also for this ticket tariff on a single page of our website. This provides customers with an extended range of options just a click away so they can plan the itineraries that are most convenient to them. All this in a simple straightforward way, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year” he concluded.

The Round the World Mileage Calculator available online since October 2006 enables customers to control the entire desired itinerary planning process for their trips, with the latest schedule updates from each of the member companies and a total of more than 17 thousand daily flights. Trips can cover up to 39 thousand miles and enable up to 15 connections, thus providing customers with a vast range of options when putting their route together.

Once a final itinerary is planned it is possible to print it out and deliver this to a travel agent or transmit the data to the selected Star Alliance member company to check for availability, calculate the ticket tariff, make the respective booking and issue a ticket.
