Cheapflights.co.uk goes underground at T5

28th March 2008 Print
Consumer champion Cheapflights.co.uk went underground yesterday as a team of ten looped the loop on London Underground’s Piccadilly line, providing help and information to travellers.

Having anticipated the confusion Heathrow’s latest addition might conjure, a Cheapflights.co.uk t-shirt clad team of ten split up into pairs as they dedicated their time to guiding passengers to and through Terminal 5 (T5).

Cheapflights.co.uk, the UK’s leading flight price comparison website, arrived for its task armed at the ready with flight guides and business-size cards detailing a restaurant price comparison for the new terminal. Playfully contrived, the cards were designed to act as multi-purpose tools to be used as a toothpick, mini notepad, nail cleaner, and ruler.

The service and cards were received with great enthusiasm with plenty of travellers stopping to share notes on their T5 adventure.

Ethel and George, an elderly couple celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary were on their way to spend a romantic week in San Francisco. They spent time sharing stories with Cheapflights.co.uk who helped them get a head start on their celebration by pointing them in the direction of Gordon Ramsay’s Plane Food for a delectable pre-flight meal overlooking the runway.

While some expressed disappointment in shouting about the lack of fast food restaurants on the Terminal 5 menu, others told Cheapflights.co.uk of their delight at Heathrow’s move towards promoting a healthier lifestyle through the omission of fast food restaurants.

The helpers distributed their price comparison cards by the thousands and provided assistance to hundreds of travellers on numerous issues. Travellers were grateful to receive clarification on obscure flight changes such as the move of BA flights to Algiers, Houston and Dallas from Gatwick to Heathrow’s Terminal 5, effective 30th March 2008.

Cheapflights.co.uk’s general manager, Francesca Ecsery, joined in the day’s activities sporting her team t-shirt and assisting travellers. She commented on the event in saying,

“This is a great opportunity for Cheapflights.co.uk to interact with its customers in a unique way. Our job is to help travellers not only by finding them the best deals, but also by providing travel tips, destination guides and all manner of other assistance. We thought why not roll up our sleeves and do it face to face.”

For those who missed out on the Cheapflights.co.uk helpers, you can still take advantage of their assistance through the website, by visiting the Terminal 5 tips page at http://news.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/2008/02/heathrow-termin.html.
