Aer Arann propel the green message
To mark World Earth Day, Aer Arann has pledged to donate one tree for every passenger booking with them on the day through the charity Bothar. Aer Arann expects to sponsor a minimum of 5,000 trees.Aer Arann’s Commercial Director, Fergal Barry said: “This is Aer Arann putting its ‘green’ foot forward. We acknowledge the environmental concerns of our passengers and we want them to know that we do care with this gesture of support for World Earth Day.”
Aer Arann already has the greenest aircraft fleet in Ireland. Aer Arann's decisions to update and renew our fleet with ATR’s new generation 72-500 turboprop aircraft represents the most environmentally sound choice for flyers.
Barry stated “Aer Arann has recently invested €180 million in a new fleet of ATR 72-500’s. Our new ATR turboprop aircraft are recognized as the most fuel efficient aircraft in their category, emitting 20% less CO2 per kilometre than newer jets, and using up to 70 per cent less fuel than a similar-sized jet on the same length flight. Our ATR 72-500s uses as much fuel on a typical 370km sector as a Boeing 747 uses in ten minutes of taxiing.”
