Singapore Airlines launches additional A380 services to Heathrow  Singapore Airlines will add an additional A380 service on the Singapore-London route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. More Singapore Airlines customers flying to and from London will be able to experience flying aboard the carriers world-renowned Airbus A380 with the introduction of four additional weekly services.

Singapore Airlines, who were the first, and are currently the only airline to fly the new superjumbo, will add an additional A380 service on the Singapore-London route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The world’s largest passenger aircraft will be used to operate flights SQ 318 from Singapore to London Heathrow, and the returning as the popular night flight SQ 321.

These new services are is in addition to the current daily A380 service operated on flights SQ 322 (Singapore-London) and SQ 317 (London-Singapore), and boost the number of Singapore Airlines A380 flights between the two cities from 7 to 11 times a week.

Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Marketing and Regions, comments: “The A380 products have been very well received by our customers, and loads on the Singapore-London route have been exceptionally encouraging. The deployment of another A380 on this route will cater to continual strong demand from customers traveling between Singapore and London”.

The increase in A380 services to London follows the scheduled delivery of Singapore Airlines’ fifth A380 aircraft from manufacturers, Airbus, in late June 2008.

The new Singapore to London service takes effect from today, Wednesday 16 July 2008. However, there will be a temporary break in A380 operations on SQ 318 (Singapore-London) and SQ 321 (London-Singapore) from 31 July 2008 to 9 August 2008 inclusive as the aircraft will be deployed to Beijing for a week, to cater for increased demand in the lead-up to the start of the Olympic Games.
