Air Seychelles acquires fourth B767

22nd July 2008 Print
Air Seychelles, one of the world’s smallest airlines, has acquired a fourth Boeing 767 aircraft in its 25th anniversary year. The B767-300ER has been leased from International Lease Corporation (ILFC) and is due to be in operation by the autumn.

The new aircraft is earmarked to increase frequencies on current international routes, and will also be used for new routes and ad hoc charter flights. It is to be named ‘Amirantes’ and will have a 2-class configuration with 24 ‘Pearl’ (business) class seats and 169 economy seats. It will be liveried similar to Air Seychelles’ existing 3-strong fleet of two B767-300ER and one B767-200ER. These already serve 8 international weekly routes from Mahé, Seychelles: London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Singapore and Mauritius.

Mitchell Hawes, sales and marketing manager of Air Seychelles UK, commented, “In response to continuing challenges in the aviation industry, we are taking this exciting step to ensure we maintain our service delivery and increase our market share. We are committed to upholding our position as the preferred carrier to Seychelles.”

Air Seychelles will also take delivery of two B787 Dreamliner aircraft in May and September 2012. This delivery has been subject to a delay of two years, owing to production issues at Boeing.

Air Seychelles is the only airline offering non-stop direct flights from London Heathrow to Mahé with flying time of less than 10 hours. This year the airline celebrates its 25th year of international operations, and 30th anniversary of domestic operations.
