Campaign launched to boost Jersey visitors

26th September 2008 Print
Campaign launched to boost Jersey visitors Air Southwest has teamed up with Jersey Tourism to launch a new joint marketing campaign aimed at increasing visitors to the popular destination throughout the winter.

The low fare airline and tourist body will be working closely to promote the island for autumn and winter breaks, through high-profile advertising throughout the region between now and the beginning of November.

Air Southwest offers year-round flights from Plymouth to the Channel Island of Jersey, taking just 45 minutes.

Mike Coombes, Deputy Chief Executive of Air Southwest said: “With many people watching their finances at the moment, we are seeing an increasing number of travellers holidaying closer to home. Jersey is an ideal destination and great value throughout all four seasons. Jersey has some of the best quality accommodation in the UK and is attracting people year round.”

Mike Tait from Jersey Tourism said: “Tourism in Jersey has recently seen unprecedented levels of investment, with well over £200 million allocated in the last two years. When coupled with the festivals and events happening all year round, for example Tennerfest in October / November, we know that visitors will have a fantastic time no matter what time they travel. We are delighted to be working alongside Air Southwest during this campaign and we’re confident it will lead to an increase in visitors to the island, particularly in the short break market.”

Jersey is 100 miles south of mainland Britain and only 14 miles from the coast of France – making it the most southerly of the British Isles. The island, with its mild climate, stunning coastline and unspolit landscape, is a popular year round destination for visitors, and is famous for its historic blend of British and French influences.

Air Southwest flies from Plymouth to ten destinations across the UK, Ireland and Europe including London Gatwick, Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Bristol, Dublin, Cork, Grenoble, Jersey, Glasgow and Newcastle. The airline is also the largest operator of flights from Newquay Cornwall Airport.

All flights can be booked on-line at Airsouthwest.com, with flights to Jersey starting from £39 one way including taxes and charges.
