In an extension to the services it offers its passengers, American Airlines has announced the re-opening of its Flagship Lounge at Miami International Airport. The new addition will give passengers another quiet haven for relaxing or working before and after flights and will particularly benefit those travelling and connecting between American’s daily direct flights between Miami and London Heathrow.

The re-opening of the Miami Flagship Lounge continues a tradition of comfort and strengthens American’s premium product for First Class international customers, which also includes Flagship Lounges at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, London Heathrow Airport, New York JFK Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.

“We’re focused on enhancing the travel experience for our valued customers and the Flagship Lounge facility is an important element in this experience,” said Kurt Stache, American’s Vice President and General Sales Manager. “It is our pleasure to offer our eligible First Class and qualifying oneworld customers another oasis amid the hustle and bustle of major airport terminals by providing amenities for productivity, comfort and convenience.”

Located in Concourse E on the departure level directly beyond the security checkpoint, the Miami Flagship Lounge spans approximately 3,600 square feet with seating for 62 guests and is open from 4.30am to 11.30pm daily.

Travellers can stay productive while on the go with the Flagship Lounge Business Centre featuring two work stations, two Lenovo personal computers with high-speed Internet access, a copier and a fax service. The lounge also offers a global print solution, powered by Printer On, making it possible for users to submit print requests via e-mail or Web page uploads from any location and pick up printed materials right in the lounge.

The Flagship Lounge offers a wide array of complimentary wines, liquors and other beverages, as well as a complimentary lounge buffet complete with china and silverware providing distinctive food offerings throughout the day. Selections include:

"The Fresh Start" continental breakfast featuring an assortment of muffins, bagels, Danish, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit and yogurt;

"Flagship Café" light lunch featuring a salad bar, soup, cheese and crackers and dessert;

"Afternoon Tea" featuring soup, sandwiches and wraps, scones, cheese and crackers and dessert;

"Flagship Supper" featuring appetizers, soup, salad bar, cheese and crackers and dessert; and

"Late Night Bite" (at U.S. locations) featuring cheese and crackers and dessert.

Four spa-like shower facilities, complete with towels, shampoo, body gels and hairdryers, are available for travellers wishing to freshen up before continuing on their journey. Additionally, for those visitors preferring to be entertained, the lounge provides DirecTV, newspapers and select magazines for use in the club and complimentary T-Mobile wireless access.

“American Airlines is delighted to offer the quiet, comfortable retreat of a Flagship Lounge here in Miami,” said George Hazy, American’s Vice President-Miami Operations. “When going to, from or connecting between international destinations in South America, Central America, Mexico City, Europe, and Asia our lounge is the perfect place for our premium customers to enjoy some relaxation.”
