Air Southwest to launch new Guernsey service

Low-fare regional airline Air Southwest is launching a new service from Plymouth to Guernsey. The flights, which will cost from £39 one-way including all taxes and charges and a 20 kilo baggage allowance, are on sale now. They will start from April 8 and run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Mike Coombes, deputy chief executive at Air Southwest, said: “Guernsey is the perfect destination for a short-break or family holiday and for those wanting to experience an island paradise without high Euro-zone exchange rates, there’s never been a better time to travel.

“This new service increases the number of destinations on offer from Plymouth City Airport to 11 and we hope that it will make a significant contribution to the island’s economy.

“We’re also aware of a number of students from Guernsey studying at the University of Plymouth, so we hope that we will become their airline of choice.”

Air Southwest is no stranger to the Channel Islands having operated regular flights from Plymouth to Jersey for the last five years.

Air Southwest applied to Guernsey's Commerce and Employment department for permission to operate the new service just before Christmas, and that licence has now been granted.
